Bookish Matters

The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.

  1. Robin McKinley's "The Hero and the Crown" was a favorite novel in my youth and despite the fact that I think I've asked you several times whether or not you've read it, I'm still going to tell you this. There's this fiery, awkward girl named Aerin that goes about fighting dragons on her steadfast steed. One time, she fights an especially nasty beastie and is almost burned to a crisp so she goes to this healer named Lethe. Later, after fighting her manwitch uncle, she returns to her homeland and takes her rightful place as queen. Ignoring the fact that the plot sounds like shite, this poem is oddly reminiscent of that work. Huh.
